Miranda Kerr the new face of David Jones
Supermodel Miranda Kerr met with the cream of Australia’s fashion designers at a special dinner where she was introduced as the new face of retailer David Jones.
Kerr, who flew into Sydney earlier this week with actor boyfriend Orlando Bloom, was the special guest at the “David Jones family dinner” at Guillaume at Bennelong restaurant at the Sydney Opera House.
On the guest list were some of Australia’s leading fashion designers, including Collette Dinnigan, Akira Isogawa, Alice McCall, Lisa Ho, Kirrily Johnston, Alex Perry, Nicole and Simone Zimmermann, Peter Morrissey and Heidi Middleton. Kerr turned up without Bloom, wearing a shimmery white Dinnigan cocktail dress and beige Christian Louboutin heels.
The Gunnedah beauty will be the store’s new fashion ambassador following Megan Gale’s decision to retire from the catwalk at age 32. Kerr will replace Gale on the catwalk at the bi-annual season collection launches in February and August, and will be the face of the David Jones catalogues and advertising campaigns.
Gale will continue in a much smaller role as a brand ambassador. Kerr was discovered in 1997, when she won a Dolly Magazine model search at age 13. She has since gone on to be the face of fashion chain Portmans and to model for Victoria’s Secret. Kerr’s deal with David Jones is rumoured to be worth a six-figure sum.
